Welcome to my website and a little bit about me, where I come from, why I sell real estate and how I can help you to buy or sell your next home, investment property, vacation lake home or piece of hunting land!
I grew up in the St Paul with my parents Marie and Mathew Garofalo, my grandfather Marco Garofalo (an Italian immigrant) and 14 siblings - all living in a five-bedroom home with 2 bathrooms! I was the fifth oldest and learned at an early age the benefits of communication, negotiation and compromise - invaluable assets in today's real estate market.
My husband Denny and I purchased our first home in 1971 - a 2 bedroom 1 bath "fixer upper". While our children were young I took college classes at the University of Minnesota, earned a degree and worked part time, mostly in sales. I enjoyed interior decorating and started working in my sister's interior decorating business. Denny, a carpenter, had remodeled and built an addition to our home. After almost 20 years we decided to sell and move to Osceola (Denny’s life long dream). When we made the decision to sell our home it sold immediately - the people who purchased it not only bought the house but also made us an offer to leave all the accessories and furniture. Hard work, perseverance and staging enabled us to sell our home quickly to the first couple that saw it. I believe my past experience in interior design helped to sell our home quickly. That experience has also helped many of my past sellers to stage their homes and optimize their potential in a competitive market.
We have lived in Osceola for the past 24 years and I have been selling real estate for 22 of those years. I love living and working in area that provides such beauty and convenience. I enjoy helping people find their new home and/or the ability to move in a new direction. I am fortunate that many buyers and sellers have become lifelong friends and have provided me with the word of mouth referrals that have kept my business strong.
My experience in real estate is primarily residential sales, however I have a strong background of working in new construction the past 15 years. I am involved in the development and building in several different areas. I have a working knowledge of construction and understand all the technicalities of the building process. I have built and owned rental properties and I understand what makes rental property profitable. As a landowner and seller I personally understand the pain of a down market. Experience in real estate helps me understand the anxiety and stress of a short sale or the prospect of losing a home.
The Western Wisconsin area sells itself. There are incredible recreational opportunities throughout the St Croix River Valley with Interstate Park heading the list. The areas of St Croix Falls, Dresser, Osceola, Balsam Lake and Amery boast some of the finest fishing, and hunting within a 60 miles radius of the twin cities. Premier lakes, (Balsam, Deer, Wapogasset, and Bone) offer trophy fishing and water sports. Smaller lakes (Long, Bass, Loveless, and Halfmoon) offer serenity and great pan fishing. Hiking, biking and snowmobile trails are located throughout the area of Western Wisconsin and offer a quiet and beautiful backdrop for you as you explore the area. If golf is your passion the area has many courses from which to choose –for the novice or avid golfer. Whatever your sport you are sure to find an adventure to enjoy in Western Wisconsin.
Denny and I now reside in Osceola. The town has much to offer. It provides local artists a place to showcase their wares and local thespians a place to perform at the “Art Barn”, which is open during the summer months. There are free local concerts throughout the summer with “Music in the Park” in Osceola, and in St Croix Falls “Music on the Overlook”.
Our local schools offer some of the best educational experiences available.
Excellent health care is nearby with the newly constructed Osceola Medical Center (OMC). Recent additions to the medical campus are Christian Community Home of Osceola senior assisted living facility and the Wild River Fitness Center.
The Western Wisconsin area is home to a variety of religious denominations and places of worship.
I believe in the American dream of home ownership. Whatever your dreams, whatever your plans for real estate let me make it your reality.
