My Background:
I have been a Twin Cities resident since 1987 and have over 25
years of sales and marketing experience. Since 1996, I have been a homeowner living in the downtown Minneapolis Warehouse District.
   

According to market indicators, the area known as Downtown Minneapolis has become a popular place to own a home because people desire to live closer to work. The major residential housing projects located in Downtown Minneapolis offer a variety of condos, town homes and lofts to match the tastes and desired lifestyles for any resident. In addition, there are several other key market indicators that support the forecast for a continued growth and projected building boom including:

  • Lund Food Holdings has opened an urban-style supermarket in Northeast Minneapolis with a second location scheduled to open in downtown Minneapolis.

  • Enhancement of the river front has been marked by the opening of the new Guthrie Theatre and it will continue with increased development of "open spaces".

  • Growth of upscale restaurants and entertainment venues will continue on Nicollet Mall and Block E as well as the riverfront.

  • Over 165,000 people work in downtown Minneapolis, however, less than 40,000 live within the downtown Minneapolis area; many will decide to live where they work.
  • The Minnesota Twins have completed the construction of a new stadium in the warehouse district and with it will come a mixed use development of commercial space and residential housing.

  • Condos, townhomes and lofts have become the housing preference for young professionals as well as baby boomers eyeing retirement.

Currently, home buyers have hundreds of condos, townhomes and lofts to choose from in downtown Minneapolis. This wide variety of choices can also make it confusing when trying to determine the home to buy.
