Kasson and Mantorville

Minnesota

The cities of Kasson and Mantorville share a variety of links creating a county-wide community with nearly 10,000 residents. Physically, Kasson and Mantorville are linked by the Sunset Trail, which runs parallel to Dodge County Road 21, and the Sunrise Trail, which is a 2.2 mile loop system with curves and hills that are perfect for cross-country skiing.

  • Home of the historic Mantorville limestone
  • Cities connected by a multi-use trail system
  • Acreage, farms and large lots available

Kasson and Mantorville also share a public school system with a high school, middle school and elementary school, as well as a community education program with youth sports, summer camps, preschool programs and more.

Kasson

Kasson is the larger of the two cities and its Main Street has the only stoplight in Dodge County. Area growth has spawned interest in historic Kasson homes for sale, and commercial enterprises have brought new life to the city’s business district.

Mantorville

The historic downtown Mantorville neighborhood still features many of the city’s original limestone buildings, which help tell the story of the area’s architectural heritage.

The National Park Service named Mantorville to the National Register of Historic Places because of its abundant use of “Mantorville limestone.” This quality building material was mined from nearby quarries and was in high demand for its beauty and unique responses to weather. You’ll see Mantorville limestone on St. Mary’s hospital, the Hubbell House restaurant and other important buildings in Rochester.

If you are looking for a hobby farm or want extra breathing room, look beyond Mantorville and Kasson neighborhoods to outlying Dodge County homes with accompanying acreage. Build an extra garage or a guest house, add on a pool or simply invest in the big potential of southeastern Minnesota land.

The popularity of Kasson and Mantorville homes is primarily due to the cities’ proximity to Rochester. Families who relocate to Rochester for work at Mayo Clinic, IBM or the University of Minnesota Rochester populate these nearby cities.
