Edina a great place to raise children
One reason why Edina homes for sale are always in demand is because Edina is widely acclaimed as one of the best places in the state to raise
a family.
According to the group America's Promise Allliance, Edina has been recognized for its residents' commitment to creating a great atmosphere for raising kids, while also promoting youth leadership among the city's students.
It's not only families who are fostering a desirable community for raising kids, says America's Promise Alliance, but also local businesses, which have helped support a variety of youth-based programs aimed to better the lives of children.
America's Promise Alliance also says that students who attend Edina High School have shown an inclination to take part in various leadership programs and have graduated at well-above-average percentages, making the city's school system one of the most revered in not only Minnesota, but the entire Midwest.
So, for homebuyers who already have kids, or are planning to have children in the near future, be sure to check out Edina homes for sale.
Edina Historical Society preserves city's past
Formed in the late 1960s by a group of Edina homeowners who wanted to save a landmark school and provide more local history programs to children, the Edina Historical Society has transformed into a group of preservers looking to restore the past, illustrious memory of the city.
After saving the city's revered Cahill School, located adjacent to the Country Club neighborhood, the society opened the Edina History Museum. At the museum, visitors can delve into the city's rich past and learn about Edina's early days as a mill town, as well as discover what archaeologists have found beneath city streets over the past few years.
The museum sits on a 14-acre piece of land, called Arneson Acres, which features a substantial garden maintained since the city's inception. With help from more than $200,000 in donations, the society built an addition to the museum using parts from the city's old Wooddale School.
The city's commitment to supporting historical preservation makes Edina a great place
to live.
Centennial Lakes Park in Edina one of city's real treats
Centennial Lakes Park, which is close to many Edina condos and townhomes, is a 24-acre park perfect to visit year-round.
The grounds host one-and-a-half miles of paved paths surrounding a pond used for rowing, boating and ice skating - depending on the season, of course. The park also hosts a farmers market as well as various cultural performances in its lakeside amphitheater.
Summer is one of the best times of year to go to the park, as visitors can fish in the ponds and play at the unique grass putting course.
The farmers market, open two days a week during the warm months, features dozens of vendors, selling everything from breads and bakery items to cheese and meats.
Centennial Lakes Park Manager Tom Shirley told the Minnesota Sun he thinks the farmers market at the park could expand to include up to 60 vendors in future years.
In winter, Centennial Lakes Park offers a vast outdoor skating area, in which skaters can glide across 10 acres of carefully crafted ice.
