After about 40 miles, take Exit 309 to merge onto FL-44 W / FL-486 W toward Inverness/Citrus County. Stay on State Road 44 as it heads west from Inverness, passing through rural Citrus County toward Crystal River In Crystal River, when SR44 becomes NE 5th Street / Gulf-to-Lake Highway, continue west for a few more miles.
