Homes That Sold Now As Easy to Search for As Homes for Sale

Edina, Minn. – March 8, 2011 – Consumers who want to see how much properties have sold for will now find it much easier by simply selecting “sold” in the status field within www.edinarealty.com’s property search.

The ability to search for homes that sold in the last two years is critical information to anyone who is considering buying or selling a home, according to Bob Peltier, president and CEO of Edina Realty Home Services. “Sold data is valuable and relevant for both consumers and our REALTORS® who advise sellers on the asking price for their home and buyers on property offers,” Peltier said. Our agents are the best authorities on home values and market trends, and now consumers can plainly see some of the qualifying information for determining property values.”

Edina Realty began displaying sold data on properties in Minnesota, western Wisconsin and Fargo, N.D. on its website in 2006. While sold data was available from governmental agencies and indirectly through other businesses, it had not been readily accessible to consumers until Edina Realty made it available. However, until now, the search for sold data had to be conducted using a completely different search tool from the property search. Now, users can stay on the www.edinarealty.com’s property search page and simply change the search criteria from “active” to “sold” via the status drop down menu.

Sold data includes the property’s sale date, the sold price, and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. The data is downloaded and refreshed every hour, so it is always a rolling, up-to-date two-year period.

All properties that match the consumer’s search criteria will pop up as little house icons on the map; homes that have sold are marked by a red house icon, while homes for sale pop up as a green house icon. In addition, homes that will be held open feature an “open” flag, and new listings have a “new” flag.
