Where are some of the best places to eat and drink in Northeast Minneapolis? From the best vegan restaurant in the city to the awesome local coffee shops, let me be your guide to Northeast Minneapolis (in 2500 characters).
Pilllar Forum
Pilllar Forum can be found on the corner of Central Ave NE and 23rd Ave NE. It's home to amazing coffee, a small music venue, and a skatepark vibe. In the evenings, they even serve beer and cocktails.
What to try: Lavender Honey Latte
The Coffee Shop NE
If I were directing a Minneapolis-based TV dramedy, this coffee shop would be the local hangout for the main characters. Handwritten menus, baked goods, and seasonal drinks add to the cozy atmosphere. While you're there, check out the shop next door - Rewind Vintage. You're sure to find a few gems in there!
What to try: Hot Jodi Latte
Francis Burger Joint
When I tell you I'm a regular here, you better believe it. Francis Burger Joint is the best vegan restaurant in Minneapolis! I'm not even vegan (or vegetarian for that matter), but I find myself gravitating here every week. The service is phenomenal, the food is even better.
What to try: Spicy Chicken Sandwich (get it extra spicy!)
Ideal Diner
If you're looking for a tiny 1950's-esque diner, this is the spot for you. With a bar and just a few tables, you have to plan to get here early or wait for a well-worth it breakfast or lunch. You also can't beat the prices!
What to try: Corned Beef Hash
Hai Hai
From the same owners of Hola Arepa, Hai Hai is a tribute to Southeast Asian flavors. With a James Beard award-winning chef, the rotating selection of dishes are always fresh and drool-worthy.
What to try: Viet Iced Coffee (+ whatever looks good on the menu to you!)
Honorable mentions: Anchor Fish & Chips, Football Pizza, Parkway Pizza, Hazel's, Bina's, Earl Giles
Bauhaus
Amazing beer and frequent events, what more could you want from a local brewery? They also have their own charitable platform, On The Haus, where anyone can volunteer to help the community.
What to try: Salt & Lime Pilsner
Fairstate
This consumer-owned brewery is a great place to stop, especially if you're also craving an artisan pizza. Co-op members get happy hour pricing on pours ALL DAY!
What to try: Roselle Sour
Honorable Mentions: Indeed, Sociable Cider Werks, Headflyer
I wish I could share more, but I've run out of characters! Let me know if you want any more recommendations on where to eat, drink, and shop in Northeast Minneapolis!
