Sometimes referred to as the Garden District of St. Paul, Como Park is a picturesque, family-oriented area located in the northwest part of St. Paul, adjacent to Roseville and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. Como Park homes for sale include bungalows, ramblers and two-story homes built in the 1960s and earlier, although there is some new construction in the area, as well. There are no homes built on Lake Como, but many homes offer lake views.
This St. Paul neighborhood has a rich abundance of parks and recreational opportunities, including Lake Como and surrounding Como Park, the most widely used park in the Twin Cities. The park offers biking and walking paths, paddleboats for rent and a pavilion featuring summertime theater performances and concerts.
Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is a free (donations encouraged) zoo focused on conservation. Animals at the zoo include African hoofed stock, large cats, aquatic animals and primates, and the zoo is well-known for its California sea lion exhibit. The adjacent Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is also free, although visitors are encouraged to make a donation. The conservatory has large indoor and outdoor gardens filled with unique and exotic trees, flora and fauna.
Kids will enjoy visits to Como Town Amusement Park next to the Como Zoo, as well as the numerous play areas and parks in the St. Paul neighborhood surrounding the zoo.
St. Paul schools serving the Como Park area include Chelsey Heights Elementary, Como Elementary and Como Junior and Senior High Schools. The University of Minnesota St. Paul campus is located nearby, so many university professors, students and graduates also call Como Park home.
