Edina Realty Joins Minnesota FoodShare Campaign to Stock State’s Food Shelves

EDINA, Minn. (March 2, 2010)– Edina Realty, the Midwest's largest residential real estate firm, is helping raise awareness for hunger issues and collecting food and other donations for the state‟s food shelves by participating in Minnesota FoodShare‟s March Campaign, the largest food drive in the state.

Throughout March, participating Minnesota Edina Realty offices will be drop sites for the annual food drive. Items in need include non-perishable canned or packaged foods; baby items including diapers, formula and jarred food; and various household basics such as toilet paper, shampoo, laundry and dish soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

According to Minnesota FoodShare, in 2009, there were more than 3 million food shelf visits statewide and food shelf usage continues to climb. During last year alone, 61 million pounds of food were distributed to Minnesota families. A growing number of Minnesotans – many working and living in the suburbs and from middle-class backgrounds – are turning to food shelves for help.

“We are pleased that we can contribute to such a worthy cause and help Minnesota families in need,” said Bob Peltier, Edina Realty president and CEO. “We encourage everyone to stop by their participating neighborhood Edina Realty location and drop off donations.”
