Decorating with Emerald Pantone's Color of the Year

Pantone 2013 Color of the Year Emerald

Each year, Pantone, the world’s color authority, chooses its “Color of the Year.” Pantone’s color selection is known to widely affect trends in fashion and interior design, as well as product packaging and graphic design. 2013 is the year of Emerald. The bluish-green hue is meant to “enhance our sense of well-being further by inspiring insight as well as promoting balance and harmony.”

Are you looking to stay on trend this year? Emerald is a bold color – you can opt for a tropical feel by painting walls or buying green furniture, or incorporate small pops of the jewel tone by using pillows, textiles or even basic plants.

Here are a few ideas on how to use this year’s hottest hue in your home.
