Edina Historical Society preserves city's past

Edina MN Historical Society

Formed in the late 1960s by a group of Edina homeowners who wanted to save a landmark school and provide more local history programs to children, the Edina Historical Society has transformed into a group of preservers looking to keep the city's memory alive.

After saving the city's revered Cahill School, located adjacent to the Country Club neighborhood, the society opened the Edina History Museum. At the museum, visitors can delve into the city's rich past and learn about Edina's early days as a mill town, as well as discover what archaeologists have found beneath city streets over the past few years.

The museum sits on a 14-acre piece of land, called Arneson Acres, which features a substantial garden maintained since the city's inception. With help from more than $200,000 in donations, the society built an addition to the museum using parts from the city's old Wooddale School.

The city’s commitment to supporting historical preservation makes Edina Realty a great place to live. Reach out to an Edina Realty real estate expert if you're considering moving to the city.
