Basic moving tips for buyers and sellers

Do you need help preparing for the move to your new home? Leave it to Real Simple, a magazine focused on personal well-being, to make moving prep a breeze! We've summarized some of their tips for you.

Begin planning your move two months before the actual date to give yourself ample time to prepare. Start by organizing all rooms and belongings, and take inventory of what you have to keep everything in order.

Before ordering a moving truck, take measurements of furniture, electronics and any other large possessions so you will have an idea of what size truck you will need.

Be sure to clearly label all belongings, notify all record holders and bill senders of your address change and finish packing. If you are moving far away, make sure to tie up local loose ends like taking important items out of your safe deposit box. Once you're days away from moving, don't forget to throw away perishables like cleaning materials and food in the fridge.

Once all of this is completed and the truck arrives on moving day, load everything up and check each area thoroughly so you don't leave anything valuable behind.
