Edina Realty leads local market for 22nd consecutive year


2021 results show more than 30,000 transactions totaling nearly $10.8 billion in sales



EDINA, MN, Jan. 19, 2022 – Edina Realty (www.EdinaRealty.com), the largest residential real estate company in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, ended 2021 as the market leader in home sales for the 22nd consecutive year. At year’s end, agents of the company had totaled more than 30,000 transactions equating to $10.8 billion in sales volume.

Edina Realty closed 34 percent more transactions in 2021 than its nearest competitor. With spring on the way and activity remaining strong over the winter, 2022 is expected to be another active year for the real estate market.

“Our agents are reporting a lot of interest from buyers, and that strong interest has continued to result in competitive and fast-paced bidding processes,” said Sharry Schmid, Edina Realty president. “While the rate of activity may slow somewhat, and inventory of homes for sale may rise a little, we expect more of the same from the market in 2022.”

Edina Realty predicts 2022 buyers and sellers in Minnesota and western Wisconsin will experience:

  • A slight uptick in inventory of homes for sale, but continued upward pressure on pricing.
  • A similarly fast pace of sales activity, with bidding wars remaining for the most in-demand homes and neighborhoods.
  • Continued emphasis on home trends that first emerged at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as home offices and more flexible space.
