New Construction Business Continues to Rise During Seller’s Market

Edina, Minn. - May 1, 2014 – Edina Realty named Randy Bacchus director of its Builder Resource Group. This new position supports the growing new construction business by assisting real estate agents, sales managers, builders and developers who market and sell new construction.

New construction is rebounding in the current market, in part because the inventory of homes for sale is at a 10-year low. The Minneapolis Area Association of REALTORS® reports that closed sales of new construction in the greater Twin Cities area was up nearly 30 percent last year, and it’s on track for further growth this year.

While the volume of sales are much lower than traditional sales, over 3,600 new homes were sold between April 2013 and March 2014 in the 13-county metro area. Currently, there are over 2,200 new homes for sale on Edina Realty’s website, which includes all properties listed with the MLS.

Bacchus obtained his real estate license in 1992 and became an agent at Edina Realty’s White Bear Lake office in 1994. In 1997, he founded Bacchus Homes, a building and remodeling company. After 14 years, he returned to Edina Realty to resume his career as a full time real estate professional.
