About geodesic domes

Once considered the potential future of housing design, geodesic domes were popularized in the 1950s by the architect Buckminster Fuller, who sought ways to make shelter “more comfortable and efficient… and more economically available to a greater number of people.” Specifically, the design of the dome was intended to maximize the interior space while minimizing the surface area — which would allow the builder to save on materials, and the homeowner to save on total cost.

While the design didn’t end up redefining residential home design, geodesic domes are still occasionally built and sold across the U.S. today. When they come on the market, they tend to make a splash — as the Double Domes of Eden Prairie has.

Double Domes of Eden Prairie in the news

Featured in numerous publications, including the Star Tribune, BringMe the News, Kare 11 and even the Daily Mail in the UK, the property has been causing a sensation since its listing in July.

This has come to no surprise to listing agents Jason Zoellner and Carrie Ledermann, who were immediately drawn to the property and excited to market it to the right set of buyers.

Zoellner says, “This property has attracted tremendous interest all across the globe. Not only is it viewed as a novelty but as a true home for buyers who are attracted to its historic design, creative interior features and expansive outdoor spaces. This truly is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a very special buyer.”

Double Domes’ top features

While the home’s main living areas are a master class in luxury interior design, the property is significantly more playful and colorful than most other homes at this price point.

The home offers four connected junior bedrooms, which meet up in a loft playroom.
